New fabrics from St. Jude's We're delighted to announce the launch of two new fabrics, designed by Angie Lewin and Mark Hearld.

Angie Lewin's Hedgerow is a three-colour design screenprinted onto a heavyweight linen union.

Mark Hearld's Bird Garden is also printed onto linen union in two colourways, with a third colourway on a natural linen.

Ernest Race BA3 chairBritain Can (Still) Make It We're genuinely very proud to have been selected to feature in Liberty's 'Britain Can (Still) Make It' event, a unique exhibition made up entirely of UK designed and produced furniture, lighting, ceramics and textiles - part of London Design Week.

We have collaborated with the Race Furniture Company in their re-issue of Ernest Race's BA3 chair.

The week long exhibition, curated by David Nicholls, Design Editor of the Telegraph Magazine in association with Michelle Alger, Liberty’s home and furniture buyer, takes inspiration from the 1946 show, ‘Britain Can Make It’ held just after the War at the V&A. Britain Can Make It promoted ‘by all practical means the improvement of design in the products of British industry’.

“Over half a century after the V&A show, we find ourselves in a similar position of doom and gloom. The economic outlook is bleak, British manufacturing is down, and our icons are struggling. I wanted to celebrate both traditional and completely new British craftsmanship to maintain that Britain can STILL make it! I approached Liberty to house the Britain Can Still Make It exhibition during London Design Week as they have always been a unique platform for design where the finest meets the rarest and have a long history of supporting British craft.” David Nicholls, Design Editor, Telegraph Magazine

The exhibition will present a mix of established and burgeoning designers from the world of furniture, lighting, ceramics, textiles and metal - all of whom produce their work in the UK.

_tinsmithsCurtain making by Tinsmiths Made To Measure We've been working closely with Tinsmiths in Ledbury since we set up St. Jude's in 2005.

Tinsmiths have always had a dedicated group of curtain-makers quietly working away in the sewing room above their showroom.

To offer these services and expertise to those living further afield, Tinsmiths launched their Made To Measure website, which will take you step-by-step through the ordering process for blinds and curtains in various styles.

They offer a choice of curtain headings, roman blinds and roller blinds and the website will help you take all the required measurements, work out how much fabric you'll need and provide all relevant pricing. More >

Pastures New Our existing premises in Aylsham are now closed to the public and will be dedicated to the design of our screen-printed textiles and a new letterpress studio.

Located in the North Norfolk village of Itteringham, our new gallery space (to the right hand side of this photo) showcases the St. Jude’s range of fabrics and stationery, together with a selection of limited edition prints by the artists we collaborate with including Angie Lewin, Mark Hearld, Jonny Hannah, Chris Brown and Jonathan Gibbs.

During the year we also host a number of individual artist exhibitions. You’ll also find a thriving community shop and café next door.

BBC Homes & Antiques feature Angie Lewin's work in their November 2008 issue.

"The seasons and the natural landscape are meat and drink to printmaker Angie whose abstract works of art depict seed heads and pods, sunshine and clouds, clifftops, bays and distant mountains.

Ten years ago, living in north London and working as an illustrator, she was barely aware of the seasons, but all that changed when she and husband Simon made the decision to buy a holiday home on the coast."

Kensal Rising, the first in a series of fabrics designed for St. Jude’s by Old Town - well known for their classic British workwear.

The design is a reference to the fondly remembered Victorian skyline seen from the old North London Railway between Broad Street and Richmond.

Whether north or south of the river, we hope you’ll enjoy this cheerful 225gsm cotton print in three colourways - stone/red, sky blue/chocolate and pale green/brick. More >

We're looking forward to working with Old Town on a range of designs. If you'd like to be kept up to date with details of our new designs, you can sign up to our free e-mail newsletter.

Country LivingCountry Living featured an 8 page article on Angie Lewin's work and Norfolk home in their May 2007 issue.

"Throughout the house, seed heads and pods, rather than fresh flowers, fill simple pots, jugs and jars – evidence of which also shapes her work as an artistprintmaker...

Today the wild flowers and grasses of the north Norfolk countryside, as well as her own garden, provide her with a rich seam of subject matter – the sculptural seed heads of plantains, dandelions, goat’s beard, poppies, cow parsley, teasels, and sea lavender outlined against sea and sky are captured in her beautiful, limited-edition prints. The colours and designs are evocative of the Fifties and yet refreshingly original. "

Elle Decoration Design Awards 2006 Our Dandelion One & Two prints designed by Angie Lewin were included in the shortlist of four designs in the 'Best in Fabric' category of this year's Elle Decoration Design Awards 2006, alongside Timorous Beasties, Nina Campbell and Eley Kishimoto.

"In 100 per cent cotton, these two fabric designs are screen-printed with a gloriously whimsical Fifties-style print and come in deliciously sophisticated shades like yellow, sage and stone."

Congratulations go to Timorous Beasties - the winner of this category.

The Guardian We featured in The Guardian's Weekend Magazine's "Wish List" on Saturday 26th November 2005...

"St. Jude’s, a Norfolk design outfit, has been going only since October, and this Dandelion Two print is one of its first efforts: a small-run screen-print on heavyweight cotton. The graphic plant forms are reminiscent of Lucienne Day's 50s prints, and might be just as collectable in a few decades." More >
